Sunday, June 7: today was a low key day, but it also gave us the opportunity to spend down time with some of our older Honduran friends that help us with our house builds. This morning our entire group went out to Valle de Angeles (Valley of Angels). Think “Honduran Gatlinburg” - streets of touristy souvenir shops, cafes, small restaurants, coffee shops, etc. We have been countless times, so we really didn’t need more Honduras magnets or keychains 😂 We were able to treat some of our Honduran friends to an awesome lunch & just spent time talking & laughing together. After Valle we went to church in the community of Montez, a place where we have built houses & distributed food on prior trips. We sat outside on benches for the service, majority of which was in Spanish, but it was a beautiful experience. After church we headed back to the mission house where we stay, and played some card games & soccer with our Honduran worker friends. Tonight for dinner, a local restaurant called Taco Loco came to the mission house & cooked up some AWESOME Honduran food for dinner. This is a highly anticipated meal & once again it did not disappoint. Although it was a slower paced day, it was so awesome to get to spend some quality, non-working time with our local friends! Friday, June 5: today the group went outside the city to an area called Tamara. Part of the team went to Didasko Children’s Home where they painted the inside of the girls’ dorm, and served all the kids lunch of fried chicken & french fries (their choice 😂). The rest of us divided up into teams to build 2 houses. The house we built was for a grandmother, Reina, who had been living with her grown son & his family. We got some rain while building today, but it was actually welcomed as it helped cool things off a bit, even if only temporarily. And Reina’s grandkids kept us all laughing with their mischievous antics! It was a good day, and two more families now have a safe, dry space to call home ❤️

June 3: Today our group built two homes in community of Juana de Lainez - we were a part of one of those crews - and delivered food bags to families in the same community. Our home was for an older man, Jose Lazarus, and the site was NOT for the faint of heart. After digging out several serious boulders, we got the corner posts squared up & the house was complete in about 5 hours. There are now 2 more families in that community with new homes, and countless families that didn’t have to worry about where or how they would feed their children tonight. We feel so incredibly fortunate to be a part of this work here, and we cannot thank you enough for helping to make it possible ❤️
