The Cy-Fair Professional Firefighters Association stands in unwavering support of our brothers and sisters of the Jersey Village Professional Firefighters, IAFF Local 5538, as they fight to preserve safe staffing for their firefighters and the community they proudly serve.

Reducing minimum staffing is more than a budget decision…it is a firefighter safety issue. Every firefighter deserves to know they have the personnel needed to perform dangerous, life-saving work safely. Cutting staffing increases the risks faced by Jersey Village firefighters on every emergency scene and can delay critical tasks that protect both responders and the public.

These reductions don't stop at the city limits. As one of Jersey Village's primary mutual aid partners, Cy-Fair firefighters will be called upon more frequently to fill response gaps, placing additional strain on the regional emergency response system. It will also add pressure to the Cy-Fair EMS system, impacting the ability to meet the growing needs of all of the communities we serve.

Firefighter safety should never be compromised to balance a budget. The cost of inadequate staffing is measured in increased risk to firefighters, delayed emergency operations, and diminished service to the public…not just dollars.

We stand shoulder to shoulder with Jersey Village Professional Firefighters - Local 5538 in urging Jersey Village leaders to protect the firefighters who protect their community. Safe staffing saves lives, strengthens mutual aid, and ensures every firefighter has the resources they need to return home safely after every shift.

When firefighter safety is compromised anywhere, the entire fire service feels the impact. We stand together because protecting those who protect our communities is not negotiable.

📢 The proposed FY2027 City of Jersey Village budget is now available on the City’s website:
https://www.jerseyvillage.gov/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_07172026-397

In addition to the proposed fire department staffing changes, the budget also includes proposed changes to police department minimum staffing and a $741,000 General Fund allocation to the City Campus project.

Public safety staffing and city spending priorities affect everyone in Jersey Village. We encourage residents to review the proposed budget, stay informed, and contact their elected officials to share their thoughts before final budget decisions are made.
