Another Chance
NOV 25, 2023
Today's Scripture
2 Timothy 4:11, NIV
Get Mark and bring him with you, because he is helpful to me in my ministry.
Today's Word
In Acts 13, during Paul’s first missionary journey with Barnabas, a young assistant named Mark “deserted” them and returned to Jerusalem. No reason is given as to why, but it was a great mistake that broke his relationship with Paul. Later, in Acts 15, Barnabas wanted to take Mark with them on Paul’s second missionary journey, but Paul refused. It led to such a sharp disagreement that Paul and Barnabas went separate ways in their ministries. I imagine Mark lived with deep regret about his broken relationship with Paul. But many years later, Paul is in prison and knows he’s about to die, and he tells Timothy to bring Mark to help with what remains of his ministry. God not only restored their relationship, but most scholars believe that Mark went on to write the Gospel of Mark.
You may have relationships that you think are too far gone, too broken to be restored, but God can soften hearts. It’s not too much for the mercy of God. Get ready for another chance. You’re going to see restoration.
Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that no matter what challenges I face, You have the final word over all things, including broken relationships. Thank You that You are working behind the scenes and bringing restoration to what I thought was dead. I believe that You are bringing second chances. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Secure
Feb 07, 2023
Today’s Scripture
Romans 12:6, NLT
In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well.
Today’s Word
When you're secure in who God made you to be, you don't feel less-than because you can't do what somebody else does. God has given us different gifts. You don't feel inferior because your friend is a doctor and you don't have a college degree. Your security is not in how you perform, in what you do, what you wear, or what title is behind your name. Your security is in the fact that you are a child of Almighty God. You realize you are His masterpiece, fearfully and wonderfully made, equipped, empowered, approved, and anointed. You find your value in who you are and not what you do.
Otherwise, you'll spend your whole life competing with others, trying to prove your importance, trying to convince them to be for you. "Look at my car. Look at the business I've built. Look at my position. Look at how great of shape I'm in." That's all fine, but it's superficial. Stay focused on what you're called to do, do it well, and live for God's applause.
Prayer for Today
Father, thank You that You have given me gifts and talents to fulfill my destiny, and they are different from what others have been given. Thank You for the blessing of being different and the privilege of making the most of what You've given me. I am secure and content with who I am. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Don’t Be Moved
Oct 22, 2022
Today’s Scripture
Acts 20:24, NKJV
None of these things move me, nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy...
Today’s Word
Life is too short for you to go through it drifting, feeling negative, discouraged, and passionless. Get your hopes back up. If you don't have an expectancy in your spirit that something good is coming, it will limit what God can do. You have to stir up the hope and keep anchored to it. When you're anchored to hope, you may have negative circumstances, but you're not moved by worry because you know that God is fighting your battles. You know that God is behind the scenes arranging things in your favor. You may have a disappointment, but you don't get bitter. You know that weeping may endure for a night, but joy is coming in the morning.
To be anchored to hope doesn't mean you won't have difficulties; it means that when those difficulties come, you won't be moved. Nothing big or small will move you or cause you to pull up your anchor. There will be waves and winds, but you're consistent, your hope is in the Lord.
Prayer for Today
Father, thank You that my faith and trust are anchored to You and Your mighty power at work in my life. Thank You that I don't have to be moved by the tests and troubles I face because I know that You are fighting my battles. I declare that my hope is in You. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Jesus Calling
December 31
AS THIS YEAR DRAWS TO A CLOSE, receive My Peace. This is still your deepest need, and I, your Prince of Peace, long to pour Myself into your neediness. My abundance and your emptiness are a perfect match. I designed you to have no sufficiency of your own. I created you as a jar of clay, set apart for sacred use. I want you to be filled with My very Being, permeated through and through with Peace.
Thank Me for My peaceful Presence, regardless of your feelings. Whisper My Name in loving tenderness. My Peace, which lives continually in your spirit, will gradually work its way through your entire being.
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
—Isaiah 9:6
But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
—2 Corinthians 4:7
“But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
—John 14:26–27
