Change is moving into Acres Homes, but not everyone feels invited.
Longtime residents say new development, rising interest, and even renaming parts of the neighborhood are changing more than the landscape… they say it’s changing the identity of their community.
With no traditional zoning laws in Houston, some worry growth is happening faster than their voices are being heard.
This Saturday, the community plans to stand together during “44 Day” with a rally focused on peace, gentrification, and preserving what makes Acres Homes home.

Court is in session for Fort Bend County Judge KP George.
Today we are expected to hear closing arguments. We know this is important because its the final chance to convince the jury.
SO FAR, we have heard from witnesses like fraud Investigators and Election law experts. SEEN evidence of what prosecutors say are thousands of dollars going from campaign funds to George's personal account for alleged property tax payments and cash down payments on homes. We have seen prosecutors "reopen" their case after a testimony of a full breakdown of where George's campaign funds ended up and why they got to either his personal or joint account. We have seen the judge reprimand both sides of the court for continuing side bar arguing. We have seen evidence video from prosecutors of what they say George is seen admitting to taking $70k in his native tongue of Malayalam, even after the judge told prosecutors to scrap it from their evidence list. EVEN heard defense ask for a mistrial TWICE.
The judge has "charged the jury", and we are ready for closing arguments. Prosecutors also said they have another piece of evidence to show the judge, this time without the jury present. What will it be and will it be a key piece in their case to find George guilty of money laundering $46,500, or will he be proven innocent.
