"Wetland Lustre"

This was a rather lucky shot, dating back to the beginning of 2021. A group of photographers with lenses so large they could illuminate the molecules of anything they photograph were gathered around vigorously wearing out their shutter buttons. My camera, at the time, was in my bag with lens unattached, and 1 cell left on the battery. Although I doubted the likelihood of it perching again, I was encouraged to try for a shot. As I fumbled through my bag to remove my camera and attach the lens, this gorgeous little raptor perched for the last time. I had one shot, one moment in time to steady, focus, and *click* My battery died just after.
