Grit, that intangible quality that helps us succeed, comes from perseverance. I can’t think of a grittier person than someone who has worked hard their entire life to read and communicate effectively. Dyslexia, perhaps reluctantly, can be superpower.

Add a few apps to the device used by the dyslexic child, and add another layer of remediation. Sometimes I have to pause and be grateful for the amount of support available to dyslexic minds today.

People with dyslexia tend to be black and white thinkers and may struggle with more abstract concepts. Without remediation, they may also be poor readers. This combination makes making inferences difficult. How to help? Remediate with a methodical, evidence-based OG instruction, build world knowledge, and practice inference-making skills with graphics.
