Master Phillip Redmond's Long Island Seminar 2024

I met Sifu Cheung during a week long seminar at UCLA. We stayed in some dorm for the week. I was already a Sifu at the time with fighting experience. I asked Grandmaster to become his student. He said you’re already a Sifu just apply the principles you learned here. I said after seeing him I didn’t want to do the Wing Chun I was doing anymore. He accepted me. When I got back to N.Y. I told him my students that I was no longer a Sifu and that I was starting from scratch in another Wing Chun version. A few of my students like Rahsun Herkul, and David Reyes
stayed with me while I went through the transition. I asked Sifu if he’d come to N.Y. to do a seminar. He said he wasn’t interested. At the time I was the manager at the SoHo Fitness Center. I told my boss Steve Katz about William Cheung.
He said let’s get him here. So he made Sifu an offer which included of course payment for the seminar, first class airline tickets, a suite in a hotel, and backstage passes to two Broadway shows. I got to see Dream Girls and Cats with Sifu. So many people showed up that we had to use two floors. Here’s the video my friend Ali Karim RIP made during the seminar.
