Heat is one of the biggest enemies of the VR30, and when you compare the factory heat exchanger to an upgraded one, it’s easy to see why this is such an important mod. And, with summer right around the corner, swapping the OEM setup for something like this is crucial! Mishimoto’s heat exhanger is easily one of the best performance upgrades you can do.

A common questions we get is: “Do I need a retune after upgrading the heat exchanger?” Short answer: no.

As charge air temps rise, the ECU starts pulling timing to protect the engine. Upgrading the cooling system helps delay heat soak and keeps temps under control for longer, meaning the car can maintain its performance for longer in the heat with fewer corrections. Once you start turning the boost up, you generate even more heat, which makes cooling upgrades even more important for tuned cars in the summer. Even on a bone stock car untuned, this is an excellent upgrade!

If you’re planning to push your VR30, a heat exchanger should be high on the mod list. I mean seriously… look how tiny the factory one is 😆

Want to keep your VR30 alive and well this summer? Be sure to hit us up to get your cooling system ready for the heat! Parts, installations, and tuning all available under our roof
