One day you’re being fired. The next, you’re leading a team to the NBA Finals.

In December 2024, Mike Brown was abruptly let go by the Sacramento Kings after a disappointing start to the season. Many people saw it as a setback. Some probably thought it was the end of the road.

Instead of quitting, Brown stayed ready.

When the opportunity came to coach the New York Knicks, he embraced it, helped transform the team, and guided them all the way to the NBA Finals.

His story is a reminder that rejection isn’t always a dead end; sometimes it’s a redirection. The job you lose may be making room for the opportunity that changes everything.
