Celebrating the Prophet's Birthday?
Scholars look at the evidence.

The Prophet ﷺ said:
"Make no distinction between me
and Moses" - Sahih Bukhari 3393

And he fasted on Mondays because
"That is the day I was born"
- Sahih Muslim 1162

Some scholars say fasting + sending
salawat is how he honored his birthday.
Others say we follow only what he
and the Sahabah practiced.

So we study, we respect,
and we send Salawat ﷺ

Allah knows best.

Dec 31st is everywhere in UK/USA.
But as Muslims, how should we end the year?

The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever imitates a people is one of them."

Instead of celebrating like them, let's:
1. Make istighfar & muhasabah
2. Set goals for Allah's sake
3. Start the year with barakah

But ALL scholars agree on this - The best way to love the Prophet ﷺ is to follow his Sunnah 365 days.

The Prophet ﷺ loved Abu Talib deeply, but guidance is only from Allah [Qur'an 28:56]

Part 6: What we ARE allowed to do for them

Can I pray for my non-Muslim parent who has passed away?

The answer hurts, but Allah’s ruling is clear:
- While alive: Pray for their guidance, health, hidayah. That’s allowed.
- After death: If they died non-Muslim, we cannot ask Allah for forgiveness for them. [Qur'an 9:113]

Loving them doesn’t stop. You can still do sadaqah on their behalf & be the best child to them while they’re alive.

Can you visit the grave of a non-Muslim parent in the UK/USA?

No, you cannot make dua for their forgiveness.

Allah says: "It is not for the Prophet and those who have believed to ask forgiveness for the polytheists..." [Qur'an 9:113]
The Prophet ﷺ was also forbidden from seeking forgiveness for his mother [Sahih Muslim 976].

You may visit the grave to remember death, but without making dua for forgiveness.

Always consult a local scholar for your case.

Died in a non-Muslim country? Do these 3 things:

1. Contact the nearest mosque or Islamic center
They have a janazah team that can help with ghusl, shrouding, and burial arrangements according to Islamic law.

2. Request an Islamic burial exemption
Some countries require cremation by law. Many allow an exemption if you submit a formal request through the mosque or family. Do this ASAP.

3. Follow Sunnah as much as possible
If ghusl isn’t possible, tayammum is enough. If kafan isn’t available, use any clean cloth. Allah judges based on your ability and intention.

"Allah does not burden a soul beyond that it can bear." [Qur’an 2:286]
This falls under the principle of necessity (darurah) in fiqh.
