The NCE Culturize the Flavor Wheel Round Table is in 20 days, y'all. We'll be streaming on Twitch at Twitch.tv/notcaffeinatedenough on April 25. This goal of this round table isn't to judge the coffees we got. The panel will use em to calibrate with each other and compare the different ways you can describe the same coffee. (And to show up for these .) Another thing that is not a goal of the event is to reinvent the flavor wheel. This is for the everyday coffee human who may or may not taste Oreos in their brew. Who may or may not have been snubbed by "coffee professionals." Who may or may not have imagined they would be snubbed if they talk about Oreos in thier coffee. We see you. Your taste buds are totally valid. Let's show those coffee snobs (real and imaginary) that we're not intimidated by the fact that they may or may not know what bergamot tastes like.

✨A FORTUNE OF EQUITY✨
The ECC is honored and grateful to be a part of a article about racial & economic equity within the coffee industry, written by the incomparable Danielle Bernabe ()!! Thank you for the opportunity and willingness to showcase the many wonderful POC entrepreneurs we connected you with along the coffee supply chain:
The article is amazing! 💥🌟💥🌟💥Here are a few excerpts from us that didn’t make the cut, but we wanted to share...
Who Are We...
We provide a hybrid service of sourcing, consultancy, and business development for farmers and green coffee buyers. In doing so, we’ve developed several models that add value to the various actors along the supply chain. By supporting farmers through high standards of quality control and shared resources to ensure trust and accessibility. We also help clients identify and build sustainable relationships with farmers with emphasis on ethical practices. A bond of accessibility and trust.
On Economic Equity...
Historically, black and brown people around the world have played a vital role as producers in the coffee industry. However, we also want a seat at the table of distributors and industry supply chains. We have either been consumers or laborers, but not responsible for distribution.
As stated by Mellody Hobson, the appointed Chairwoman of Starbucks Corp, “about 2% of Fortune 500 spending right now is with minority business enterprises.” Therefore, our goal is to add value by building partnerships and cultivate the untapped African American consumer base. We strive to be more intentional about investing in coffee farms overseas, continuing to create connections with businesses along the supply chain, and educating black and brown communities worldwide about specialty coffee. Our success should provide greater opportunities for business, job creation, creativity, innovation, and ultimately sustainability for all parties involved.
