2026 Alfresco Gala raises $500,000 - Houston Arboretum & Nature Center Houston Arboretum’s 2026 Alfresco Gala, honoring Main Street Capital, raised $500,000 to fund conservation and education programs.

Back on March 8, Houston Arboretum held their annual Pub & Pup Expo benefitting BARC, and sponsored in part by Saint Arnold’s Brewery.

Guests got to shop canine related gifts, learn about trends in dog care, have some beer, and meet the lovely people of BARC who help find adoptees for doggie friends.

Whether coming out with their own pups or seeking to adopt a new fuzzy family member, a good time was had by all, those with four feet and those with two feet.

Using controlled fire as a means of land management is not a new trend despite copious new technology around fire control. The breakdown of plant matter and the components released by fire helps nourish the soil, clear dense underbrush, and increase sun availability for new growth.
