Today a local court approved a settlement between the city of Houston and the plaintiffs in the drainage and streets fund case.

Houstonians deserve to have their votes respected. We believe the higher court’s ruling very plainly supports the transfer of the full voter-mandated amount to the drainage and streets fund so that the city can build the flood protections voters were promised.

We do not believe the settlement approved by the lower court today reflects what voters wanted, nor does it uphold the spirit of the higher court’s ruling.

There are still legal paths we can take to make sure Houstonians get the flood protection we all count on.

We've been fighting for functional infrastructure and truly democratic city governance for years. Today, Houstonians are more informed, organized, and energized about the city’s financial decisions than ever.

This work is still going strong—and we’re not backing down.

Join us at City Hall Wednesday, June 4 at 9am as the mayor puts his bad budget up for vote. HoustonSaysNo.com

When: Wednesday March 19th, 2025

Where: City Hall 901 Bagby St

Why: Citizens of Houston have voted twice that they want their tax dollars spent on upgrading drainage infrastructure. However, the City has been diverting these tax dollars towards however they see fit. The is fighting to get the City of Houston to follow the most recent Texas Supreme court ruling, which said the Ad Valorum Tax Diversion must cease! We have been asking the City to protect us from the impacts of flooding, and the time is now to ensure the City follows the ruling and listens to the will of the people.

There will be food and coffee. Rides available upon request!

Hello all! Join us this Saturday March 15, 9am-2pm for a day of digging and planting! We are installing a trench and a rain garden to reduce water ponding under a house, including the install of rain barrels for water collection. The home is located right next to a metal recycling facility and we’re trying to implement several strategies to remediate the soil and filter out the storm water. Come learn with us :)

No experience necessary.
