My latest extraordinary acquisition is a fashion collector's dream from Zandra Rhodes' 1987 Secret of the Nile collection. This is a close up photo of the handpainted design on a silk pants set depicting Tutankhamun's Leapard. Later, I will reveal the outstanding hand applied accouterments to this piece and other photos of an opera costume that Zandra Rhodes created for the San Diego Opera Aida in 2013 depicting the same leapard. Rhodes designed not only the costumes, but the entire set as well, and was based on her sketches she made while visiting ancient Egyptian tombs in 1985; meticulously sketching what she saw on the walls including her Tutankhamun's Leapard design. There's so much more to boast about fashion icon Zandra Rhodes' remarkable talents and achievements, and I'll talk about her more in subsequent posts of this fashion piece with a fascinating historical design.
