Today, on Memorial Day, I honor the men and women of every race, background, and creed who gave their lives defending this country and the freedoms protected by the United States Constitution.

Because of their sacrifice, people like me have had the opportunity to build businesses, pursue success, speak freely, and even enjoy the simple peace of an ordinary day at home. Freedom is never free.

Many who served also continued their commitment to this nation through careers in public safety, dedicating their lives to protecting our communities and constitutional rights long after their military service ended.
