Picasso Elijah Keaton was a gifted athlete, coach, mentor, and beloved son from Durham, North Carolina. He was the kind of young man who helped others, encouraged people around him, and had a future full of purpose.

Then came the knock at the door no parent ever wants.

A state trooper asked Picasso’s parents to sit down. When his father asked what this was about, the trooper told them their son had been in an accident. An impaired driver had crossed the center line and hit Picasso’s vehicle. First responders worked on him for 20 minutes, but they could not save him.

One reckless decision stole a son, a mentor, and a light in his community.
