As a Black-owned business, we will commemorate the 1865 end of slavery in Texas on the 19th, better known as Juneteenth. Yet that is not all. June is Pride Month, when LGBTQ communities around the world collectively celebrate the freedom to be themselves and in doing so commemorate the Stonewall Inn uprising in New York City on June 28th, 1969. Soon after that day, an emerging gay rights movement took shape as organizations such as the Gay Liberation Front and the Gay Activists Alliance formed. Thus it is equally vital to our evolution as a society to recognize and remember that we each have a place of meaning and value in this life regardless of our race, sexual orientation, or identified gender.
