The Strange Forest has been immortalized on film by for Public Functionary’s Art During Strange Times screening.
Born during a season of “strangeness,” this 20-foot hand-illustrated crankie was my way of processing courage. It tells the story of a girl navigating migration, broken glass, and “noodly-limbed” monsters, choosing to show up for herself even when things look messy.
What started out as an interactive film box as part of my MFA thesis show evolved into a live performance exploring expanded animation while being part of the Crankie Festival 2024 and then Ice Shanty 2025 crankie box. I’m so grateful for the friends who brought the whimsy and music to my storytelling. This crankie box was presented in multiple different forms, so it has come a long way!

Some fantastic student works from my semester of teaching Concepts and Metaphors at MCAD this year! Everyone is so insanely hardworking and dedicated to their art-making it’s pretty rad :)

This exhibition highlights emerging artists and provides space for them to share their unique perspectives. Priority was given to artists who are based in the Twin Cities. The theme is positivity, defiance, and innovation. The show is colorful and uplifting. Some of the featured works reject social barriers, such as oppression and discrimination. Curated by me!
