Volunteer with disability saves panda, finally becomes zookeeper. For years, one man showed up at the zoo every week as a volunteer, working for free, simply because he loved the animals. His biggest dream was to one day work there officially. But despite his dedication, he was turned down for a job in the past, told his physical disability might limit what he could do. Still, he never gave up.
Then came the day everything changed. While helping in the panda enclosure, he noticed one of the pandas struggling to breathe. Without hesitation, he stepped in and performed the Heimlich maneuver, saving the panda’s life in front of stunned visitors.
The dramatic rescue was caught on camera and quickly went viral. A petition from the community poured in demanding the zoo hire him and this time, they did. When asked about his journey, he said: “Don’t let anybody tell you what you can and can’t do. I always wanted to work at a zoo and now I’m officially a worker.”
