Love is an emotion that is to be known, felt, and expressed-not just known intellectually. For instance, plently of abusive spouses talk about love yet are unable/unwilling to express it in healthy ways. This reminds me of the lyrics of a Madonna song:
"Friends said they tried to warn me about you
He has good manners, he's so romantic
But he'll only make you blue
How can I explain to them?
How could they know?
I'm in love with your words
Your words"
For example, if I feel the urge to spend regular time with someone there's a good chance that I love them. Love lies at the core of the human experience. Plus, a person doubting whether they are lovable suggests experiencing a traumatic childhood wherein the same person did not feel loved therefore learned such core beliefs as "I am unlovable" or "Maybe I am unlovable." As Frank Anderson, M.D. and IFS trainer, lecturer, and book author once stated:Trauma Blocks love and love heals trauma!
