𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦 𝐨f 𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 F𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

"Evangelicals have dis-integrated pastors and dis-integrated Christians - sincere followers of Jesus who live with deep (albeit well-managed) psychological dysfunctions... We need to rethink our approach to spiritual formation. We need an approach to spiritual formation that f𝒐𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 - that brings together doctrinal instruction and moral development 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 psychological healing.... A better theological vision of spiritual formation would take seriously the nature of the human person as a psychosomatic unity, doing justice to our embodied, incarnate nature, and promoting integration of the doctrinal and moral with the psychological and even neurological. It would take at least the following three steps:

1) Taking the 𝒃𝒐𝒅𝒚 more seriously
2) Taking the 𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒏 more seriously
3) Taking 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒐𝒏 more seriously"
