How cool is this? It's the GoGirls logo made out of guitar picks! We commissioned this from GuitarPickArt. It's so cool!

: Reliving "Invasion of the GoGirls" at SXSW. We had so many amazing shows at Trophy's, a divey, landmark venue on S. Congress. Here's The Locals jammin' with us in 2008.

GoGirlsMusic is making a comeback! After a 3 year hiatus, founder Madalyn Sklar is reopening the community. Artists who become involved have the opportunity to perform, have their work reviewed, and get involved with a hardworking group of women who “get things done” in the music scene.

Who's excited?

9 years ago today I started the super popular on Twitter for our GoGirlsMusic community. I hosted the nighttime chat every Thursday, including holidays. We had some amazing conversations revolving around the music biz and connected with awesome musicians from all over the world. The chat ran from 2011-2017. It is surely missed! -Madalyn Sklar

Hi everyone… we have big news.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce GoGirls will be closing its virtual “doors” at the end of August.

We have had an amazing run of 21 years of connecting and lifting up women in music (and connecting with more than a few wonderful GoGuys along the way as well). GoGirls has always been a labor of love - volunteer run for the sheer joy of seeing what happens when strong smart women get together and support each other. The three of us at the helm - our fearless leader and founder Madalyn Sklar, and co-executive directors Delia Stanley and Rorie Kelly -- have done a lot of soul searching in recent weeks. We all have big life matters that need our focus -- family, career and creative needs that are screaming for our attention. We have to admit that we are spread too thin to give GoGirls the time and dedication it deserves.

We don't want to see our beautiful community fizzle out and fade away from lack of care, so we are choosing to end on a good note. We love everything that we have been able to create together over these last two decades and you, our GoGirls family, have really brought our dreams to life. We urge you to keep doing that. Stay connected, keep supporting each other and keep choosing . For those who love our weekly on Twitter, we hope you will find a new home with other great chats like on Monday night , run by Female Frequency, and on Wednesdays, started by longtime ggchatter .

We hope you will continue to lift each other up and support each other, helping each other find shows in new areas, sharing experiences and advice when a sister musician is struggling or confused, and continuing to do projects together because together we are stronger than we are apart. We are leaving the Facebook group up and we hope you will continue to support and share with one another.

And we will still be around. Madalyn, Delia and Rorie are still online and a part of the indie community. You can always find Madalyn running a chat or sharing social media wisdom on Twitter, Delia creating art of every kind and lifting up fellow creatives on and offline, and Rorie singing the praises of indiepreneurship, feminism and wine throughout the internet. We loved connecting with you as your community leaders and we hope we can continue to do so as your friends and peers.

If you have any questions, or you just want to talk with us, reach out to us on Facebook and Twitter or at [email protected]. We are here for you during this time of transition. Thank you so much for helping this community to flourish for over two decades.
