πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ 250 Years. One Nation. Countless Heroes. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

As America celebrates 250 years of independence, we pause to remember the men and women who have protected our freedom through service, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication.

Among them are generations of military and public safety bomb technicians who answered a simple but profound call: to place themselves in harm's way so that others would not have to.

From the first EOD pioneers of World War II to the technicians serving today, their commitment reflects the very values that have defined our Nation for 250 years; courage, duty, innovation, and service.

This Independence Day, we honor our country's past, celebrate its present, and look forward to its future.

Happy 250th Birthday, America.

And thank you to all who continue to serve.

Who are the people that spring into action when IEDs and undetonated explosives threaten lives?

We are proud to partner with the United States Bomb Technician Association to share the true story of the U.S. Army's first bomb disposal heroes of World War II.

Captain Edward Hume and his squad volunteered for one of the deadliest assignments of the war. Their mission: defusing unexploded bombs in the heart of Nazi-occupied Europe, with survival measured in weeks.

The work of bomb disposal units remains critical today, whether still defusing WWII bombs across the globe or combating terrorism.

How do you decide which explosive threats to study? You ask the people encountering them.

Through a DOJ Byrne Grant, USBTA surveyed active bomb techs to identify the most common homemade explosive materials in the field. The results drove the research agenda.

Findings are shared with EOD, public safety bomb squad and first responder communities through USBTA's Technology and Training Exercises.

Science that starts with the community and comes back to it.

Another outstanding USBTA FTTE is in the books!

Thank you to everyone who joined us June 2–4 for three days of hands-on X-ray training and technology demonstrations. These events provide a valuable opportunity for bomb technicians to train, collaborate, and evaluate the latest capabilities available to the EOD community.

A special thank you to our industry partners: Field Forensics with Teledyne ICM, NOVO, SmartRayVision, Vidisco, Scanna, Golden Engineering, and Cuattro for making this training possible.

Most importantly, thank you to all the attendees for your commitment to professional development and advancing the profession.
