There’s a moment in every session where things either click… or don’t. This morning, Kam spent hours chasing a snare sound that just wouldn’t sit right. Same drummer, same room, just not there. One swap from the studio’s snare collection, and suddenly everything opened up. The energy changed. The band felt it immediately.
That’s the difference. Recording isn’t just hitting “record.” It’s knowing when something’s off, having the tools to fix it, and the experience to make the right call in the moment. Small decisions like the right drum, mic placement, or tuning add up to something greater than the sum of its parts. You can absolutely make music at home, and you should! But the gap between a good record and a great one often lives in a professional environment.
