More Hoosiers will be protected from the dangers of secondhand smoke because of the new statewide smoke-free air policy signed into law by Gov. Mitch Daniels. Indiana moves closer to becoming a smoke-free state.

Gov. Daniels signs bill to ban smoking in most public places At the bill signing ceremony in his Statehouse office, Daniels thanked the lawmakers who had fought for passage; legislation exempts bars and casinos.

City-Council Council passes smoking ban 02/01/2012

This week the Indianapolis City Council adopted Proposal 18 to expand the city’s smoke-free air policy to include all bars and restaurants. This would be a huge step forward for Indianapolis employees and sports fans. However, Mayor Greg Ballard has threatened to veto the bill. Stay tuned for more information.
