As I've made known, many follow Horseracing Wrongs Patrick Battuello's posts on a daily basis. Today's post was disturbing, as it depicts a horse named Tyler's Tribe who repeatedly bled at races and during training. Yet despite having had to be taken off track due to bleeding no less than 4 times since 2022, trainer Tim Martin and owner Tom Lepic apparently thought it was a wonderful idea to keep abusing Tyler's Tribe. Tyler's Tribe died yesterday during a training session at Oaklawn Park. Tim Martin feigned shock and sadness at this horse's death. But the fact is that he had plenty of opportunities (at least 4) to see that this horse was not fit for racing. And he did nothing. Martin, to be sure, is not the only abuser out there, but he might be one of the more egregious. In truth, anyone who forces a horse to race is participating in the killing and injuring of innocent animals. We will not stop until horse racing is outlawed and subsidies stopped.
