Handsome Halston recently celebrated his 15th birthday! He's a Lhasa Apso, around 24 lbs, and has a handsome white and apricot coat. He's neutered, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines and monthly prevention.

Halston's ideal home:
- Soft beds, tasty snacks
- Fenced yard (required)
- Loving family, respectful kids welcome

Halston was surrendered to us when his owner could no longer care for him and his doggie friends. He's working on potty training, he does best on a regular schedule, and wears belly bands in the house.

This connoisseur of cozy beds is one of the sweetest gentlemen you'll ever meet. He's always ready to es**rt you from one room to the next. He'll happily share your snacks, he's a charmer that way.

Speaking of snacks, this gentleman has a fantastic appetite and a zest for the cozy life. He does have health issues related to his age and breed. He's on twice daily medication and has some lumps and bumps of a dog who's lived a full life. Due to his age and medical needs Halston is a hospice adoption. Happy Halston's is fur-ever family ready. You can read more about his medical needs, and learn more about how wonderful he is, on our site: https://www.fawnssmalldogrescue.org/adoptable-dogs/halston

All of our dogs are fostered in or around Jacksonville, FL. We adopt within a 150 mile radius of Jacksonville, which includes parts of Georgia.

Now is the time to start preparing to keep your pets safe from the fireworks that we'll begin in the next couple of days. Holiday after holiday, year after year, it never fails. So many dogs go missing and people lose their beloved pets. 💔 It only takes a second for them to get scared and run off. Here is our list to help you prepare to keep them safe during the fireworks that will begin in the next couple of days.

~Secure fenced yards, including locking gates, so they don't accidentally open from storms that roll through our area this time of year.

~Collars should be kept on your pets with ID tags and/or write phone number inside the collar.

~Verify that your dogs microchip is registered and up to date with your contact information.
You can register your dog's microchip for free at 24 pet watch, now petplace.com or 911petchip.com . If you're not sure if your dog is microchipped or don't know the microchip #, visit your vet to have your pet scanned for the microchip. The vet will write down the number and give it to you so you can make sure the dog's microchip is registered. If your dog was adopted from Fawn's Small Dog Rescue, the microchip is registered. However, if you have moved or changed your phone number, you may want to contact us or 24 pet watch to update that information.

~Create a calm environment inside your home. Close all windows and curtains to block flashes of light and Shockwave of the booms.
Make a safe place like an open covered crate or comfy bed under a table or in an interior closet.
Pressure vests like thundershirts help to promote a sense of security. Offer potty pads in the evening hours to keep your dogs inside at night. If they must go outside, please keep them on leash.

~calming products like cbd oil and chews found on chewy and amazon may be helpful to relieve anxiexty. If your dog gets extremely anxious, you may want to contact your vet for some calming medication prior to the 4th.

~Google or check YouTube for other ideas to help your pets stay safe during Independence Day festivities.

Wishing you all a Happy and safe Fourth of July!

A huge THANK YOU to the folks at the State Attorneys Office in Jacksonville FL for the donations of food, potty pads, blankets, toys, etc. I was honored to be invited to their Dog Day Parade and met a bunch of new furry friends. Such a fun time seeing all the pups dressed in their costumes. Thank you for supporting Fawn's Small Dog Rescue. We are so grateful.
