Seven years ago, I made a promise to myself that I would finish what I started.

On July 1, 2026, I will officially earn my Bachelor’s Degree in Sportscasting from Full Sail University’s Dan Patrick School of Sportscasting.

I always imagined celebrating that accomplishment by walking across the graduation stage. Instead, God had a different plan.

The same week I graduate, I’ll be relocating to a new state to begin my first full-time position in broadcast journalism as a News Producer. Because of that opportunity, I’ll be missing commencement.

I’d be lying if I said that part doesn’t hurt. I wanted that moment. I wanted to hear my name called. I wanted to walk across that stage after everything it took to get here.

But sometimes the blessing is bigger than the celebration.

The degree was never just about a ceremony. It was about keeping a promise, breaking cycles, overcoming obstacles, and creating opportunities that once felt out of reach.

So while I may not be walking across a stage on graduation day, I’ll be walking into the next chapter of my life and career.

Thank you, God, for every closed door, every lesson, every setback, and every opportunity that brought me here.

The stage would have been a celebration.

The career is the dream.
