On the final day of The Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, we celebrated the 70th Anniversary of the Ordination of Women in the United Methodist Church and the 30th Anniversary of the Order of Deacons.

Particularly named were a few of our own retired clergy, like Sandra Smith, Karen Dorris, and Bishop Ann Sherer-Simpson, who have been trailblazers as some of the first ordained females in our conference. Bishop Ann was the first female ordained as a Bishop out of the Texas Annual Conference and South Central Jurisdiction.

We are so grateful and celebrate these faithful women, and all past and present who have been clergy and leaders at Katy First United Methodist Church, the Texas Annual Conference, and the United Methodist Church!
