Living on Maui gives us a front-row seat to world-class water sports. We love photographing it all: traditional surfing, windsurfing, and kitesurfing.

While they are all fun to shoot, kitesurfing might be the trickiest! The vertical distance between the rider and the kite makes it a real challenge to get them both in the frame—and in focus—at the same time.

To capture the full story, we usually aim for three specific shots: 1️⃣ The Scene: The whole group and the environment. 2️⃣ The Rig: The surfer along with their full kite or sail. 3️⃣ The Action: A tight close-up of the athlete’s intensity.

It keeps us on our toes, but we love the results! Which style of photo do you prefer: the wide landscape or the tight action shot? 🌊📸
