Ree Ree’s Place INC.
Raising awareness against violence and helping families navigate life after tragedy
05/31/2026
Today, we want to recognize someone who has made an incredible impact on Ree-Ree's Place over the last three years—our very own Rayzhanae.
Many people see a young girl, but we see a volunteer, a fighter, a leader, and an inspiration.
At just 4 years old, Rayzhanae was right beside us helping lay carpet. At 5 years old, she learned plumbing alongside our team. While most children her age were playing, she was learning what it means to serve others and help build something bigger than herself.
Last year, Rayzhanae faced one of the toughest battles anyone could imagine. After being diagnosed with cancer, she endured multiple treatments and surgeries. Yet through every challenge, every appointment, and every obstacle, she continued to show up for her community.
Whether she was filing papers in the office, helping organize projects, or passing out free meals to families in need, Rayzhanae never stopped giving back. Her determination, strength, and heart remind us all what true courage looks like.
She is fierce. She is sassy. She is funny. She is resilient. Most importantly, she is proof that no matter your age or the challenges you face, you can make a difference in the lives of others.
Rayzhanae, your Ree-Ree's Place family is incredibly proud of you. Thank you for your three years of dedication, service, and love for our community. You inspire us more than you know, and we are honored to recognize you for helping us continue our mission.
You are a total kickass rockstar

We would like to extend our deepest appreciation to the community members who attended our Violence Memorial event last night, helping us pay tribute to the lives lost. This evening also marked a somber milestone, five years since our daughter was taken from us. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to our sponsors who made this event possible: Solidarity Community Federal Credit Union, Indiana Heartland Federal Credit Union, Community First Bank of Indiana, Security Federal Savings Bank, City of First Cremation and Funeral Services by Rose & Geiger, and Regional Chiropractic Center. Their partnership and commitment to our mission to raise awareness about violence and honor the lost have been invaluable. Special thanks to Devon Rush for joining us as our guest speaker once again. Your support means a great deal to us. Lastly, to the volunteers who dedicated their time to make this event a success, including Jessjess Davis, Tageona Young, Reese Young, Rayzhanae Lindsey, Paula Rush, and her daughter, we thank you for your tireless efforts. After a brief period of respite, planning for next year's memorial will commence. Sincerely Derico and Loratta

As we approach our memorial, considerable behind-the-scenes activity remains. Our raffle baskets, t-shirts, and car decals are currently being prepared, with numerous tasks still pending to surpass last year's event. We continue to seek volunteers for setup on next Friday and Saturday evening; specific times will be announced.
