👟 Today’s Topic: SHOES!! 👟
One thing you’ll hear over and over from veteran band parents… comfortable shoes matter!
These recommendations come from parents who have been through marching season (not the directors), but we’re confident they’ll agree—and this will likely be covered during the parent meeting too!
✅ We Recommend:
👟 Athletic/running shoes with good support and cushioning
👟 Marching or walking shoes built for long hours on your feet
👟 Cross-training shoes
👟 Supportive walking shoes
👟 Closed-toe shoes to help protect feet from injuries
🚫 Please Avoid:
❌ Crocs, slides, or flip-flops (little support and a higher risk of injury)
❌ Converse, Vans, or other flat canvas shoes with minimal arch support or cushioning
❌ Dress shoes, heels, or wedges
❌ Worn-out shoes that have lost their support
The right pair of shoes can help prevent:
• Blisters
• Foot pain
• Shin splints
• Knee, hip, and back pain
• Long-term injuries
These kids don’t just stand around—they march, run, dance, lunge, and perform some pretty incredible moves! Their feet are going to put in some serious work, so investing in a good pair of supportive shoes is well worth it.
One last tip: don’t be surprised if those shoes are worn out by December. A full marching season is tough on footwear, and many students need a replacement before the season is over.
Your student’s feet will thank you! 💜
