This is one of my favorite hikes. It starts off pretty challenging and it doesn’t get easy until you’re coming back down but the views and scenery are incredible. It’s an easy drive over to the north side from our homes in west Maui. While you’re over there, consider a visit to Io Valley, Paia, Hoopika beach for turtles and watching great surfers, or a meal at Mama’s Fish House, Paia Flatbread, or Paia Fish Company.

We only share this spot because everyone deserves to experience places like this, so let’s keep it beautiful for everyone 🌿✨ 📍Waihe’e Ridge Trail, Maui It’s a moderate-to-difficult trail: 4.3 miles round trip with about 1,500 ft of elevation gain… but wow, it pays off🤯 You walk through native Hawaiian forest with insane views of the West Maui Mountains, the Pacific Ocean, and the entire Waihe‘e Valley. The kind of mix you remember forever😍🌄 Go early (around 7 AM) for visibility + parking, wear good hiking shoes and don’t go if it’s raining — it gets dangerously slippery! 🫣
