DJ Kiks Bio
Born and raised in the Texas border town of Laredo, DJ Kiks’ humble beginnings date back to 1998 when he first began to engage in his interest in music production and songwriting. Along with his childhood friends, he worked for several years and met many other local acts until he would be discovered and eventually backed by a local radio station. It was this relationship with radio personalities and local support that would help generate a buzz and catapult DJ Kiks and his group to the forefront of the local and area Hip Hop scene.
As an artist DJ Kiks traveled throughout Texas as an opening act for several successful Hip Hop and R&B acts such as Flo-Rida, Akon, Ludacris, T.I., Paul Wall, and international acts including an up-and-coming Pitbull, and reggeaton sensations Don Omar, Ivy Queen, and Nicky Jam to a name a few.
No stranger to the stage and spotlight, he applied his stage presence and vocal ability to the night clubs in the neighboring Mexican city of Nuevo Laredo as a training emcee under the mentorship of local DJ and radio personality Uncle Hurrikane. It was there where he became further exposed to the nightclub scene and developed an efficient network that would enable him to establish himself as a staple emcee locally in Laredo, Texas.
Surrounded by several established local DJ’s and Radio Personalities, paired with a well-rounded musical background and knowledge of multiple genres, he set out to become a DJ himself. Soon he was presented an opportunity by a local club owner who was looking for a facelift to his establishment. This decision proved to be a significant move as DJ Kiks would immediately impact the scene, become a staple name in the scene, and was offered DJ residencies at several establishments.
