My new herd sire! So excited, I'll be milking again next year.

I had a wonderful day today. My grandchildren, 2 yr old triplets, are here for a couple of days. We were up at 7, breakfasted on the eggs we gathered yesterday, and then trooped outside to start the day's work. We fed chickens, checked on the setting hens, and emptied the rat trap. We saw a snake, watered the new transplants, and pulled armloads of weeds to feed the goats. They rode in my wagon and we spread fresh straw in the birthing pen, and mulched around the berry vines with the used bedding. The kids were so amazed that apples will grow on grammy's tree, and they learned about garden spiders, slugs, and watched an eagle circle overhead. We listened to the riotous singing of birds, imitated crowing roosters, bullfrogs, tree frogs, and the neighbor's cows. They learned why shoes must be worn on a farm. They played in the new sandbox while Grammy attended the birth of twin goats, and they helped dry off the new babies and watched as they suckled their first milk. And then it was time to wash up for lunch. Grammy was ever so grateful that after lunch, they needed a nap as much as she did!
