Right at the top of our list of things to be thankful for is knowing our work helps kids gain confidence and puts them on a path for success!

A mom recently sent us an email with a sample of a report her son wrote on his own! He completed a program to remediate his dyslexia with us back in the spring, so it is a delight to see that he is finding this year at school to be so much easier.

Here's the note from mom:

Teygan asked me to email you…. He wanted to share one of his recent papers he wrote by himself! He was so proud of it and wanted me to tell you guys thank you because he has come so far and he now has confidence and is excelling! He said he couldn’t have written this paper without the help of you all!

I am so blessed by all you have done! Thank you again… it honestly has changed our family's lives.

We are so proud of him for all his hard work and grateful to know he is seeing the reward for it!

Building confidence in our students is one of our highest priorities. It can be quite tough for anxious students in or out of the classroom when they aren't in a position to receive positive reinforcement and encouragement. When we are successful, we often end up seeing students who completely change their attitude towards reading and schoolwork. Students who shrank from anything involving reading find themselves spontaneously reading signs or asking to read something to their parents or starting on homework tasks independently.

Recently, after finishing reading a passage from a book out loud, one of our students exclaimed, "Wow, that's the most I've read without someone yelling at me ever!"

This student has a lot of anxiety around reading. While we know that he has a supportive team at his side, what has helped change his perception of reading has been individualized, multi-sensory instruction with a strong foundation of positive reinforcement. Correction and support don't sound like "yelling" anymore because he has the tools to succeed.
