Mary Todd Lincoln House Voted Scariest Haunted House In Lexington
It's always nice to see Lexington's local historic sites get some recognition. New Circle Circular is killing it with their stories.
newcirclecircular.com The Mary Todd Lincoln House sits alone downtown, holding darkness within. The historical home is one of Lexington’s spookiest attractions. Born in Lexington, Mary’s life began with a happy childhood, but would end as a
With the release of yet another "Killing X" book by Bill O'Reilly, I once again step on my soapbox to say: Don't buy them. Read books written by real historians, not ghost-written mass-produced best-sellers that line the pockets of a racist, misogynist sexual predator.
Council votes unanimously to relocate Confederate statues in Lexington
Incredibly proud of the work being done by Take Back Cheapside. Their initiative and grassroots efforts led to the Lexington Urban City Council unanimously voting to remove and relocate the Breckinridge and Morgan statues from Cheapside Park. The fight is not over and there will be opposition, but I am so proud of those who have stood up to face this.
wlky.com The Fayette-Urban County Council approved a proposal to remove and relocate two Confederate statues from the position outside the Old Courthouse.
I have long neglected this page, but I want to become more vocal in sharing history. At tonight's City Council meeting, there will be a vote to relocate the statues of John Hunt-Morgan and John C. Breckinridge which now sit at Cheapside Park. There has been a great deal of contention, online discussion, and threats of protest and possible violence from White Supremacists groups whose eyes are fixed on Lexington.
I will use this page as a way to share context and the relevance that this issue has to today's society and try to educate those who do not understand the importance of moving these statues away from the ground on which they sit.
If my current followers could share my page with others so that I can gain increased visibility in Facebook timelines, I would be extremely grateful. While there are those who are much more eloquent than I sharing their own pieces on this issue, I want to do what I can and will share out as many links and articles as I need to help spread the word.
Thank you all for your support in the past and I look forward to connecting with everyone!
Bear with me, all. I know that I haven't posted on this page in quite some time, but this will be the home for my writings about history, where I share interesting genealogy finds, and where I discuss writing.
I'm looking forward to sharing my interests with you!
Spring break for Fayette County Public Schools is next week. Visit a museum that you've never been to or rediscover an old favorte.
Having computer issues, will try to have a new article up in the next couple of days.
