This week we discuss the introduction to what has been called the “unloveliest chapter in the gospel.” It is a chapter where Jesus criticizes the Jewish religious leaders. We discuss the fact that this reflects intra-Jewish polemics and perhaps Matthew addressed this to the leaders of his own community. We also discuss the views of the Reformers about the Jewish people. Finally, we discuss how to practice humility in Christian leadership.

Harvest Festival this weekend! The Membership and Hospitality Committee invites everyone to attend our annual Harvest Festival Soup Luncheon after worship on Sunday, October 15 at 11 o’clock. Each family is asked to bring a crock pot of hot soup to the Fellowship Hall prior to the 10:00 worship service. Beverages, bread, and dessert will be provided. All are welcome!
