Your website is up 24/7. So why does it feel like it's asleep?
Not broken. Not ugly. Just not doing the work it should be doing.
If any of these five things sound familiar, let's have a conversation about what's actually going on and what's worth fixing first.

We just wrapped up some accessibility work on a website for a special recreation district, an organization that runs outdoor programs specifically for people with disabilities.

We built this one originally. That's actually part of why the audit mattered, because a site being compliant on launch day doesn't mean it stays that way. People change, content changes, and compliance drift is real.

The people visiting this site are often the exact people that web accessibility standards were written to protect. Screen reader users. People navigating with keyboards instead of mice. People who depend on alt text being accurate because they literally cannot see the image.

What we found during the audit: image-based content that screen readers couldn't interpret, and a header rendering issue causing inconsistent display across pages. Neither was catastrophic on its own. Together, they added friction for the people who could least afford it.

Here's the takeaway:

Accessibility isn't a one-time badge you earn or something you run a tool to test. It's an ongoing part of running a website, especially if your organization serves, employs, or wants to reach people with disabilities.

You don't always need a full overhaul. Sometimes it's a focused audit, an honest conversation about what needs to change, and a clear priority list.
If your website hasn't had an accessibility review in the last 12 months, that's worth fixing. Reach out and we'll talk about what that actually looks like for your organization.

Some of you are friends and some of you know me as the person who built your website (maybe years ago). Some of you have no idea what I actually do for a living (this may include my kids, ha!)
Here's the plain version: I help businesses build websites that actually improve how they operate. Not just something that looks good. I'm talking about systems that connect, accessibility that's built in from the start, and automation when it actually makes sense for the business.
If your website (or a friend's or your company's) looks fine but doesn't connect to how you actually work, that's exactly the problem I solve.
Curious? what does your website not do that it should? Drop it in the comments, and if you prefer send me a message or email me at [email protected]
