So… I raised the Hawke Sidewinder with Vortex rings - 2.5” BH for future optic options. And re-zeroed … 5 rounds in the same hole at 100. (.4” group)
Then 1” groups at 200, 250, 300, 350, & 400
It’s a different world of shooting when you’re consistently hammering 4” square steel in 1” groups on target out to 400 yards. Your confidence level begins to grow quickly.
Still tons to learn …
- tracking my impacts thru the optics
- holding the trigger until I see the impact … reduces movement.
- remembering to only rest my cheek on cheek well as I cycle each round so my head does not move.
- refraining from putting too much cheek pressure on the stock which inadvertently causes bore movement.
- working to be consistent on body placement … head, hand, thumb, trigger finger, etc. (consistency is key)
Looking forward to taking my Savage .308 back out to 880 yards. I believe my 1/2 mile groups will significantly improve with the addition of my MDT LSS Gen 3 Chassis, JARD, Inc. trigger, Tricer RP bipod & Cole-TAC setup.
