ADVICE FOR NEW FISH FARMERS

This advise is for newbie that are venturing into fish farming start with juveniles as a starter don't go for fingerlings, if you don't know how to culture juveniles to table size don't even try it because if you over feed fingerlings they will continue eating they don't have resistant till they die. If there water is polluted and you don't change it in time they will drop. As a started start with juveniles you will learn a lot from them they are older and bigger they don't die like fingerlings. Feed for juveniles is 2mm go for skreeting after 2 months you can now go for locally made pellets. 3 things you need to consider are;
1 Quality water always ensure to change their water regularly, if you going for tarpaulin/tank or concrete ponds make sure you changing the water regularly.
2 Quality feed when going for feed make sure you go for nutritional feed don't just go for feds that are cheaper. Some fish farmers will say all feeds are the same no they can never be the same the proteins in Foreign feeds. can never be compare to locally made feeds.
Names of Foreign feeds are;
1 Coppens
2 Skretting
3 Ziegler.

Locally made feeds are produce in Nigeria.....
1 Blue Crown
2 Top feed
3 Eco float
4 Vital feed and so many more. When you just stock fish I'm going to share a secret with you don't just go and get locally made feeds give them foreign feeds although they are expensive but they worth it. All the nutrients necessary for fish grow out is there eg. Carbohydrate,protein fat & oil..... Feed them with foreign feeds for 2 months before going for locally made feed to cut the expenses.

3 Quality space ; Catfish needs enough space to carry out their daily activities you cannot stock thousandsy of fish inside a small pond and expect them to grow rapidly, bigger and have weight it's a lie. They will end up becoming runt what do I meant by that they won't grow as expected if you don't want this to happen in your farm give them space always ensure to do sorting and grading every 3 weeks why did I said 3 weeks by then you will have shooters.
