Bringing it back to the studio and playing with the primordial soup. Adding to the sketch with acrylic, oil, pen again and then throwing some pastels on top. Not worried about its practicality or its longevity. Using memory with media to make an image. Sketchbook life. Playing and entertaining my mind. Pushing my body of work. It’s how I cope.

The first image is a demo in a student’s pad and the second is a demo for the room. Swipe left to see. We started working on value in quick gestural sketch. The class content focused on respecting the process and not just jumping to light logic too quickly. Drawing what you know and not just what you see. Build from within, structure first. It’s all an illusion. The drawing process like life is not necessarily linear or sequential. It all happens at once. Learn to play with it.
