Ludlow strike federal troops at Trinidad.
Members of the 11th U.S. Cavalry, pose near a railroad passenger car at Trinidad, Las Animas County, Colorado. The 11th Cavalry was called in at the request of Colorado Governor Ammons, to restore order in the coal fields after the Ludlow Massacre at the time of the United Mine Worker's strike against Colorado Fuel & Iron.

An electric trolley car is parked on a transfer table in Trinidad, Colorado. A sign near the central pulley reads: " #507 / American car Co. Builders St. Louis Mo." Lettering on the side of the car reads: "2 Trinidad, Sopris and Starkville. 2 Trinidad Electric Railroad."

Notes: Additional information provided by user: "This photo is a "Builder's Photo," routinely taken at the factory before the car was shipped. Besides the identifying sign, the other tell-tale signs are that the cars were shipped without trolley poles which were added at the destination. And it is on a transfer table (lateral movement, not a turntable. Date would be in the 1904-1907 period." Hand-written on back of photo print: "Photo coll of J. E. Columbian Hotel, Trinidad, Colorado
Date: 1880-1900
Interior details of the bar in the Columbian Hotel (1879), Trinidad, Colorado, include carved and lathe turned wood covering the front of the bar and cornices over the mirror in back. The coffered ceiling has hammered tin insets with painted scenes in central cartouches. Bas- relief friezes of country scenes surround the upper walls and are reflected in the mirrors. The central shelf-column houses a cash register and taxidermied pheasants, and its domed, imbricated top has a carved bird in flight. A hanging gas lamp in the top of the image has faux candle uprights and milk-glass pendants. A spittoon is on the floor under the brass footrest. Two men are behind the bar; another leans in front. A mezzanine with a spindleworked balustrade has glass shaded electric lamps mounted on it. A gilt framed oil painting is on the wall; an oriental rug is on the floor in the foreground, and towels hang from the bar.Physical Description1 copy photo negative ; 35 mm.; 1 photo print ; 20 x 25 cm (8 x 10 in.)
