Throw away the misconception that your therapist shouldn’t share parts of their lives with you. Therapy is all about the therapeutic relationship. Trust is built from open communication and honesty, so my personal approach is to let people in a bit. I have experienced times with my own therapy where I felt like a patient, some a student, and others feeling my comfortable self. For me those therapists were the ones that let me see they were human too.
