5 Pirates represented their colleges at last weekend’s IRA national championship. Ben Vyzas, ‘24, rowed for Wesleyan’s 2V, placing 3rd and winning the first IRA medal in SHP history. Charlie Latimer, ‘24, rowed for Marist’s 4+, and helped bring them to their first A-final since 2008. Alberto Grossetti, ‘25, rowed for Naval Academy’s 3V, and is the first Pirate to row a D1 8+ at the IRAs. Max Widmer, ‘25, rowed the 4+ for Trinity College, and placed the highest among all the D3 schools in the 4+ category. Michael Balsamo, ‘24, was a spare for Georgetown’s lightweight program. This was the largest representation of SHP alum at the IRAs and we’re extremely proud of our alum and what they’ve accomplished this season!

Congrats to our guys Ben Vyzas ‘24,Max Widmer ‘25, and Egan Kavanaugh ‘25 for medalling at NERC (New England Rowing Championship)! Egan took second in the 4V for Trinity, Max earned second in the 3V for Trinity, and Ben brought home third in the 2V for Wesleyan. Great to see SHP rowers excelling in collegiate rowing!
