12/8/24 Update:

So we Broke him out of the hospital today!! Hallelujah!! He was having more pain today…they said they feel it is more muscular and that everything else was looking good so felt that home was the best medicine! We made it home about 7:15 and he is so happy to be in his chair!! Please keep us in your prayers as we navigate this new normal and for his pain to improve!! Thank you to all our Prayer Warriors!! Our God is an amazing God and he has us!!

12/7/24 Update:

Today has been pretty low key! He is tolerating soft foods well. His ileostomy seems to be working as it should just slow still. He has a drain tube that draining extra fluid from his abdomen that is constantly leaking around insertion site so we are having to keep this clean regularly! Other than that he is resting right now. The doctors were in this morning and said if all went okay today he may get to come home tomorrow!! Praise our Lord and Savior!!

12/6/24 Update:

Day 3 is always tough so pain a little more today but still manageable! They did increase his diet from clear liquids to full liquids and his ileostomy seems to be coming around. So now for evening they said he can try soft solids! We will see how that goes. We are looking at being discharged on Sunday if all continues to improve. One thing I am learning though is that a lot can change from day to day!! His spirits are up and we are missing the kids!! Emma is being a huge help with her brother! ♥️

12/5/24 Update:

Pain is better controlled today and he is up and moving better!! Still a few snags with his ileostomy we are working through and this is a huge adjustment for him!! At this time he is still on clear liquids and not able to have any solid food yet! Pray for healing and continued pain relief and strength!!

So I figured I would make an updated post regarding Bud’s surgery!

Today has been a long day registration was at 11:15 surgery started at 1:30 and ended at 7:30 was able to finally see him at 9:30.

He is resting comfortably and the surgery went as planned! They removed the primary cancer from the colon and reattached everything successfully! He does have an ileostomy right now. They also removed lymph nodes that had been affected with cancer as well… they noted it looked like the chemo had killed it but to be sure they removed them!

He will have to have another surgery in about 3-6 months to reverse the the ileostomy!

They also noted that they were able to see all the cancer in the liver and that we have made the first step in this long journey to hopefully end with a Cancer to Liver Transplant. This is part of a trial so there are many hoops to jump!!

I can’t thank our support team enough for all the love and support that has been shown to our family!! We would not be able to be where we are today without all of you!!

Happy Birthday to this Big Guy!! ♥️ We have been dealt a crazy hand this year but you are taking it on and facing it with everything you got!! The kids and I are lucky to call you Dad and Husband!! We love you to the moon and back and pray for many more birthdays!! This next year will also be an uphill battle but we got this as a family!! The tough days only make us stronger!! Here is to year 44! 💙 Love you Bud!!
