"We tried a loyalty program and it didn't work."

I've heard that more times than I can count.

But when I ask a few questions, I usually discover the program wasn't really given a chance to succeed.

Customers signed up.

Points accumulated.

Rewards were available.

And then... nothing happened.

No reminders.
No reasons to come back.
No communication between visits.

A loyalty program by itself doesn't create loyalty.

It's what happens after someone joins that matters.

The businesses seeing the strongest results use loyalty as a starting point, not the finish line. They stay connected, reward engagement, and consistently give customers reasons to return.

The program tracks behavior.

The strategy influences behavior.

That's a very different thing.
