Please join us in welcoming the newest four-legged member of the Maple Grove Police Department — K-9 Gus!

At Monday night's City Council meeting, Mayor Mark Steffenson officially administered the Oath of Office, formally swearing in K-9 Gus as Maple Grove's newest police K-9.

Gus and his handler, Officer Hanson, graduated from the St. Paul Police K-9 Academy in May after completing many weeks of intensive training. Their dedication, teamwork, and countless hours of training have prepared them to serve the Maple Grove.

Congratulations to K-9 Gus and Officer Hanson on this exciting milestone! We are proud to have them on our team and look forward to the great work they will do for our community.

Welcome to the Maple Grove Police Department, Gus!

PUPS Reinvestment Project Breaks Ground!

Exciting things are happening at Pets Under Police Security (PUPS)!
On June 8, representatives from the Cities of Maple Grove, Plymouth, New Hope, and Robbinsdale, joined elected officials, project partners, rescue organizations, and community members to celebrate the groundbreaking of a major reinvestment and expansion project at the PUPS facility.

Since 1991, PUPS has provided compassionate care for lost, stray, and surrendered animals while helping reunite pets with the families who love them. The expansion will grow the facility to approximately 5,500 square feet, creating a modern, efficient space that enhances animal welfare and supports nearly 190,000 residents across our four partner cities. Today, PUPS successfully achieves positive outcomes for approximately 96 percent of the animals that enter its doors through owner reunification and partnerships with rescue organizations.

The project reflects the power of regional collaboration and was supported in part by an $850,000 federal Community Project Funding award secured through Representative Kelly Morrison.

As construction gets underway, we look forward to the future of PUPS and continuing our mission of caring for animals, reuniting families, and serving our communities with compassion.
