Fresh eyes= revise! And that’s ok! The final read was worth it!

I spent 8 hours yesterday revisiting the flow of Voyelle’s Purpose. I texted my friend this morning and was met with this reply. Then we dug in together with her fresh eyes and tone. We fixed meter and rhyme.
Rhyming picture books must flow in more than rhyme. They take a several readers and lots of reworking. If you have a rhyming picture book you adore, give credit below! These authors deserve hype! It’s a tremendous undertaking to drop prose (plain writing), and swap to rhythmic meter.

Not every character in Wordwood takes centre stage. Some quietly watch from the trees, waiting to be discovered by curious little readers.

Happy 4th of July and 250th America! 🇺🇸 🎆
Voyelle’s Purpose was written from both a parent’s heart and an educator’s perspective.
As parents, we quickly learn that the days are long, but the years are short. (Especially those mamas entering senior year, like me! 💖) In this story, Voyelle begins to grow up and wrestles with the same questions each of my four older children has asked:
What is my purpose? Who am I meant to be?
Those conversations shaped this story, blending life’s biggest questions with meaningful lessons for beginning readers.
My life has always been a beautiful blend of parenting and teaching children, and I can’t wait for you to hold my very first book and discover how ordinary moments can become an enchanting story. 🧚🏻♀️ 🐿️
