STEAMER MASCOT UPDATE
I'm happy to report that the remaining electrical panel and boiler controls arrived by mail recently which allows us to once again re-start the restoration project on Tuesday July 19, 2022. MASCOT sunk on Sunday July 26 2020 do to an undetermined cause. We hope to have her Steaming again by the end of the year.

These 2 centrifugal boiler feed pumps are being delivered to MASCOT today for installation. These pumps are mounted in a compartment right forward of the boiler under the Pilothouse. They are set up as automatic boiler feed pumps but used only if the steam pumps fail to keep the boiler water level at the predetermined set point. When the boiler water drops a few percentage points below the steam pumps set point the 1.5 hp electric centrifugal pump starts but if that one also fails to add water, the 3 hp electric centrifugal pump would be called into service. However if that one also failed the low water burner cut off would shut the burner off.

We have finally got our insurance settlement approved which was unnecessaryly held up for no apparent reason for the last 4 months. We are now able to move forward with the restoration of our beloved Steamer Mascot.
